 How long does the application process take to become a GreenShareCar member?

It takes approximately 5 short minutes to complete the GreenShareCar member application form online and within 1 – 3 days your application will be approved. GreenShareCar will then send you your SmartCard giving you access and the ability to drive any of our cars immediately.

 

 Do you have to submit your GreenShareCar application online?

YES. To become a GreenShareCar member you must apply online at our website. www.greensharecar.com.au

 

 Can I join GreenShareCar if I have a foreign drivers licence?

YES. If you have a valid foreign drivers licence you are able to become a GreenShareCar member as long as you have had 12 consecutive months driving experience.

 

 Does GreenShareCar offer household or family memberships?

YES. GreenShareCar has a variety of joint accounts that you can choose from allowing up to five members to apply and use the one membership.

 

 How does insurance cover work with the GreenShareCar’s?

Members are able to choose the correct insurance plan that is suitable to their needs.

The member insurance excess is detailed in the table below and is based on the member's age and driving experience. Members also have the option of reducing this excess amount by paying an additional sum at the time of their booking.

 

 What types of GreenShareCar’s are there to choose from?

The 2010 Toyota Yaris is GreenShareCar’s choice of vehicle. With its 4 star ANCAP safety rating, low exhaust pollutant emissions, AB-I and European styling makes it the reliable and environmentally friendly car of today.

 

 How far in advance can I book a GreenShareCar?

You can jump online and book a GreenShareCar up to a year in advance or at the very last minute.

YES. There are a number of GreenShareCar’s in your area, if your usual car is unavailable, another car is only walking distance away. The process of picking up a regular rental car can take around 30 minutes. With a car sharing service like GreenShareCar you can be driving within a minute or two.

If you are late returning the GreenShareCar and another member is inconvenienced you will be fined a late penalty fee. If you are going to be late returning a vehicle you must always inform GreenShareCar head office on 1300 575 878.

 

 Do GreenShareCar’s come with baby seats?

NO. Although each GreenShareCar has the restraint anchor points installed, so members are able to supply there own baby seats/capsules to use in the car.

 

 What happens if I get a parking ticket, speeding fine or any other fine whilst driving a GreenShareCar?

Just like if you are driving your own vehicle if you incur any fines for driving infringements it is your responsibility as the driver at the time to pay for the fine. If you receive a fine you must inform the GreenShareCar head office on 1300 575 878, it is then up to you as the driver to pay the fine.

 

If GreenShareCar receives a fine in the mail and you were the driver of the vehicle at the time of the offence, we will call you to inform you of the fine and will direct debit the appropriate charges out of your account.

 

* An administration charge applies for all fines that are paid by GreenShareCar.

 

 Can you smoke in GreenShareCar’s?

NO. Smoking is not permitted in GreenShareCar vehicles at any time.

 

 Can I take my pet in a GreenShareCar?

NO. Strictly no pets are permitted in any GreenShareCar vehicle. As the vehicles are shared by all GreenShareCar members you have to be respectful of other members due to allergies that affect certain people when it comes to animals.

 

YES. GreenShareCar has a minimum booking of 1 hour.

 

 

You are able to book a GreenShareCar for as long as you like, as long as it does not coincide with another members existing booking. Please note that bookings over a 5 day period need to be approved by GreenShareCar. You can contact us to find out on 1300 575 878.

AUTO. All GreenShareCar vehicles have an automatic transmission to suit all members driving needs.

 

 Can non-members drive a GreenShareCar?

NO. You are only permitted to drive a GreenShareCar if you are a registered member. You must be approved by GreenShareCar head office and have your own member card.

 

Most rental car companies won’t rent to you if you’re aged under 25 and if they do, they will charge you extremely high fees for the privilege. GreenShareCar only require that you have at least 12 months driving experience, are aged over 19 and they don’t charge you any extra if you only just turned 19 higher excess for younger drivers apply depending on your age.

 

Traditional rental cars require that you rent the car from the rental car office, but they usually let you return the car to a different city; car sharing agencies like GreenShareCar let members reserve over the internet and pick the car up from reserved parking spaces located at strategic points all over the city. Cars from a car sharing agency must be returned to the same car parking space.

 

Traditional rental car agencies let anyone walk in off the street and rent a car, but car sharing services like GreenShareCar only let members rent and it can take several days for a membership application to be processed. It costs AUD $55 to sign up as a member in Australia.

  

You are responsible for paying for petrol if you rent through a regular car rental company, but fuel is included with car sharing. In Australia GreenShareCar includes the first 150 km per day free of charge and there is a fuel card provided with the car so you can top it up at GreenShareCar’s expense.
